Play-a-Synth Enables Monetization and Payments on the Synth Sharing Platform

January 13th 2025

Play-a-Synth has been in operation for over 6 years and, finally, we have enabled the ability for hardware synthesizer owners to monetize their instruments. In this first phase, we are enabling both monetization and payments in the SEPA region*. While this covers most of Europe, our ambition is to expand both monetization and payments in more regions as soon as possible.

Play-a-Synth enables owners of hardware synthesizers to easily share their instruments online, only an audio and MIDI interface and a connection to the internet is required. The online nature of the Play-a-Synth platform makes it possible to share unique, rare and expensive synthesizers to a large audience while more common synthesizers can be shared from many places, allowing Play-a-Synth users to choose the most convenient synthesizer for them.

For users who wish to try out and play the synthesizers available on Play-a-Synth, we offer digital audio workstation (DAW) plugins and a web browser based player. Users are also able to save presets for later use. We understand that playing the synthesizers remotely may not always provide the best possible experience, so Play-a-Synth offers a 2 minute window to evaluate the audio quality and latency of a paid synthesizer reservation. If you are not satisfied within this window, you can stop playing and end the session. We will then automatically refund the reservation.

If you are interested in sharing and monetizing your synthesizer on Play-a-Synth, but are currently not located in the SEPA region, you can sign up and let us know through your profile that you wish to monetize. Play-a-Synth will use this information to target regions that have most requests. You are also able to share your synthesizer for free or use Play-a-Synth to remotely access your own synthesizers regardless of your geographic area.

We also want to thank everyone who has already signed up for Play-a-Synth and provided us their valuable feedback. If you are interested in Play-a-Synth, feel free to join our Discord server at https://discordapp.com/invite/k9VeB3A.
